เมื่อวันที่ 8 เมษายน 2568 นายแพทย์ภมรศักดิ์ เธียรประสิทธิ์ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร โรงพยาบาลสุขุมวิท ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนางสาววารุณี ปั้นกระจ่าง เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงมัสกัต เพื่อแนะนำตัวและแจ้งถึงการเปิดศูนย์กายภาพบำบัดของโรงพยาบาลสุขุมวิทในกรุงมัสกัต ซึ่งเป็นการลงทุนของไทยทั้งหมดโดยได้รับการอำนวยความสะดวกจาก InvestOman ทำให้เริ่มเปิดให้บริการบางส่วนได้แล้วตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม 2568 ด้วยมาตรฐานสากล อุปกรณ์และเทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัย และนักกายภาพบำบัดชาวไทยซึ่งเป็นที่ไว้วางใจของชาวโอมาน คาดว่าจะเปิดบริการเต็มรูปแบบในเร็ว ๆ นี้ ศูนย์ฯ ให้บริการแก่ทั้งผู้ป่วยเดิมเป็นการต่อเนื่องจากที่เคยเดินทางไปรับการรักษาพยาบาลที่ รพ. สุขุมวิทในประเทศไทย ผู้ป่วยใหม่ที่ต้องการรักษาพยาบาลในโอมาน และผู้ป่วยใหม่ที่ประสงค์เดินทางไปรับการรักษาพยาบาลที่ รพ. สุขุมวิทในประเทศไทยด้วย 

เอกอัครราชทูตยินดีกับความสำเร็จของภาคเอกชนไทยที่มาลงทุนในโอมาน คนโอมานนิยมเดินทางไปท่องเที่ยวและรักษาพยาบาลที่ไทยมากและมีความต้องการให้โรงพยาบาลไทยมาเปิดที่โอมาน บริษัทจึงอาจพิจารณาความเป็นไปที่จะร่วมทุนกับฝ่ายโอมาน หรือในเบื้องต้นศูนย์อาจหารือความเป็นไปได้ที่จะรองรับฟื้นฟูผู้ป่วยที่ได้เข้ารับการรักษาใน รพ. ท้องถิ่นของโอมานหากแผนกกายภาพบำบัดของ รพ. เองไม่พอรองรับ เป็นต้น

เอกอัครราชทูตได้สอบถามความร่วมมือที่ รพ. สุขุมวิทและศูนย์ฯ มีอยู่กับหน่วยงานโอมาน รพ. ท้องถิ่นของโอมาน และกับบริษัทประกันสุขภาพของโอมาน แผนงานในอนาคต ปัญหาอุปสรรค ได้รับทราบว่าศูนย์จะส่งนักกายภาพบำบัดมาเพิ่มและอยู่ระหว่างการขอใบอนุญาตทำงาน ซึ่งกระบวนการค่อนข้างใช้เวลา รวมถึงการนำเข้าอุปกรณ์มีความยุ่งยาก และการดำเนินการทางเอกสารและการเงินที่ค่อนข้างลำบากสำหรับบริษัทที่ผู้บริหารอยู่ที่ประเทศไทยและไม่มีบัตรประจำตัวผู้มีถิ่นพำนักในโอมาน ซึ่งเอกอัครราชทูตพร้อมหยิบยกกับฝ่ายโอมานต่อไป

นอกจากนี้เอกอัครราชทูตได้แจ้งให้ทราบคำเชิญเบื้องต้นของสมาคมต้านมะเร็งแห่งโอมานที่เชิญ รพ. และบุคลากรไทยเข้าร่วมการประชุม Oman Cancer Association World Cancer Congress and Summit ปลายปี 2568 นี้ ซึ่งนายแพทย์ภมรศักดิ์ฯ ยินดีพิจารณามีส่วนร่วมเพื่อประโยชน์ร่วมกันรวมถึงยินดีเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตด้วย

On 8 April 2025, Dr. Phamornsak Thienprasiddhi, CEO, Sukumvit Hospital in Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Miss Warunee Pan-krajang, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Sultanate of Oman, to introduce himself and inform about the opening of Sukumvit Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Center in Muscat. The Center is wholly owned by Sukumvit Hospital, one of the hospitals in Thailand with large number of Omani patients. Facilitated by Invest Oman, the Thai investor were able to partially open the Center since January 2025 with international standard services, modern equipment, and Thai physiotherapists who are trusted and popular among local patients. It is expected to be fully operational soon. This Center aims to provide physiotherapy & rehabilitation services not only for those patients who earlier received medical treatment at Sukhumvit Hospital Thailand, but also for new patients who need physiotherapy & rehabilitation services, also for new patients who wish to go for medical treatment at Sukhumvit Hospital in Thailand.

The Ambassador congratulated the success of the Thai private sector in investing in Oman. Since Omanis love to travel to Thailand for tourism and medical treatment and they wish to see a Thai hospital in Oman, the company may consider a joint venture with the Omani side. At initial stage, the Center may also discuss with local Omani hospitals on possibility to refer their patients for physiotherapy & rehabilitation services at the Center if in-house services are not enough to handle all of their own patients.

The Ambassador inquired about existing cooperation Sukhumvit Hospital has with Omani authorities, Omani hospitals and Omani health insurance companies, Sukhumvit Hospital's plan in Oman and difficulties it encountered. The CEO shared that more physiotherapists will be arriving after finishing the process of obtaining work permits, which takes some time. The Center also imports their equipment which can be complicated, and the financial and banking documents are quite difficult for companies whose executives are in Thailand and do not have Omani resident cards. The Ambassador is ready to raise the issue for the Omani side's consideration and facilitation.

The Ambassador also shared with the CEO of the invitation from Oman Cancer Association (OCA) to Thai leading hospitals with expertise in cancer treatment to participate in Oman Cancer Association World Cancer Congress and Summit to be held at the end of 2025. The CEO showed interest in discussing the details further to participate in the event for mutual benefits and ready to join other activities of the Royal Thai Embassy.
