เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ยืนยันความพร้อมของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เป็นช่องทางประสานงานระหว่างหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องของทั้งสองประเทศ เพื่อ ONZC และองค์การบริหารจัดการก๊าซเรือนกระจก (อบก.) หารือศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดทำ JCM ไทย–โอมาน บนพื้นฐานของ JCM ที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายต่างเคยจัดทำกับบางประเทศมาก่อนแล้ว และย้ำถึงพัฒนาการความสัมพันธ์ไทย–โอมานที่มีพลวัตเพิ่มขึ้นจากการเยือนโอมานของรองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศของไทยในเดือนเมษายนปีนี้ การเยือนไทยของรัฐมนตรีพลังงานโอมานในเดือนกันยายน และรัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศโอมานในเดือนพฤศจิกายน ซึ่งจะนำคณะนักธุรกิจโอมานเยือนไทยในสาขาที่เป็นผลประโยชน์ร่วมกัน

 

นอกจากนี้ สองฝ่ายยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับนโยบายและมาตรการด้านการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศของแต่ละประเทศ โดยเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับเป้าหมาย Net Zero ของไทยภายในปี 2050 มาตรการลดก๊าซเรือนกระจกภายใต้ NDC 3.0 และโครงการสระบุรีแซนด์บ็อกซ์ ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนในอุตสาหกรรมปูนซีเมนต์ลงร้อยละ 50 ภายในปี 2030 ขณะที่ฝ่ายโอมานได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับแผนลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนของกรุงมัสกัตภายใต้ Greater Muscat Structure Plan รวมถึง Meezan Platform ซึ่งเป็นระบบทะเบียนคาร์บอนแห่งชาติของโอมานที่ได้เปิดตัวในงาน Oman Sustainability Week 2025

การหารือครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นของไทยและโอมานในการขยายความร่วมมือด้านการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศและการพัฒนาตลาดคาร์บอนระหว่างกัน อันจะช่วยสนับสนุนการบรรลุเป้าหมายความเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอนและสร้างโอกาสทางเศรษฐกิจสีเขียวให้แก่ทั้งสองประเทศในอนาคต

 

On 10 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Warunee Pan-krajang, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Sultanate of Oman had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Mohsen bin Hamad Al Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman, at the Oman Net Zero Center (ONZC) to promote cooperation between Thailand and Oman in achieving carbon neutrality (Net Zero) and developing carbon markets. The Undersecretary expressed Omani interest in exploring the possibility of establishing a Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) with Thailand, noting the country's strong potential and commending its progress in developing carbon credit systems. The ONZC serves as Oman’s national institution for carbon credit management and has already begun certifying carbon credits for international trading.

 

The Thai Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s readiness to serve as a contact point between relevant agencies of both countries, enabling ONZC and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to discuss and assess the feasibility of establishing a Thailand–Oman JCM, building on the JCM frameworks which both sides have previously developed with other countries.

 

The Ambassador also highlighted the growing momentum in Thailand–Oman relations, marked by the visit of Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to Oman in April this year, the upcoming visit of Oman’s Minister of Energy to Thailand in September, and the planned visit of Oman’s Foreign Minister in November, during which he will lead a delegation of Omani business representatives to Thailand to explore opportunities in sectors of mutual interest.

 

In addition, both sides exchanged information on their respective climate change policies and related measures. The Ambassador provided updates on Thailand’s target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, greenhouse gas reduction measures under NDC 3.0, and the Saraburi Sandbox Project, which aims to reduce carbon emissions from the cement industry by 50 percent by 2030. While, The Omani side shared information on Muscat’s carbon reduction plans under the Greater Muscat Structure Plan, as well as the Meezan Platform, Oman’s national carbon registry system, which was launched during Oman Sustainability Week 2025.

 

The discussion reflected the commitment of both Thailand and Oman to expanding cooperation on climate change and carbon market. Such cooperation will support both countries’ efforts to achieve carbon neutrality while creating new opportunities for collaboration in the green economy.
