เอกอัครราชทูตฯ แสดงความประสงค์จะเพิ่มพลวัตความสัมพันธ์ไทย-โอมาน อย่างต่อเนื่องจากพัฒนาการการเยือนระดับสูงของทั้งสองฝ่าย ซึ่งล่าสุดได้แก่ การเยือนโอมานของนายสีหศักดิ์ พวงเกตุแก้ว รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศของไทยระหว่างวันที่ 15 - 16 เมษายน 2569 ซึ่งในโอกาสดังกล่าวได้เข้าเฝ้าฯ สุลต่านโอมาน ซึ่งทรงรับสั่งถึงความร่วมมือด้านการท่องเที่ยวไทย-โอมาน ในฐานะหนึ่งในหลายประเด็นที่ทรงให้ความสำคัญด้วย ตามด้วยการเยือนไทยของรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมรดกและการท่องเที่ยวโอมานข้างต้น หลังจากนี้ในเดือนกันยายน 2569 รัฐมนตรีพลังงานและแร่ธาตุโอมาน จะเยือนไทย และในเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2569 รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศโอมานจะเยือนไทยอย่างเป็นทางการ โดยจะนำคณะนักธุรกิจโอมาน 4 สาขาที่เป็นผลประโยชน์ร่วมกันไปในคณะเพื่อหารือทางธุรกิจในโอกาสเดียวกันด้วย

 

เอกอัครราชทูตไทยและรัฐมนตรีฯ โอมาน ได้หารือส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านการท่องเที่ยวที่ให้ความสำคัญต่อการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมและอัตลักษณ์ของชาติ การท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืน และการท่องเที่ยวของชุมชนท้องถิ่น เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ให้ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับโครงการของไทยด้านนี้ที่ฝ่ายโอมานอาจแลกเปลี่ยนความร่วมมือได้หากสนใจ โดยพร้อมเป็นอีกช่องทางหนึ่งในการประสานฝ่ายไทยในสาขาที่ฝ่ายโอมานประสงค์ดำเนินการก่อน ซึ่งรัฐมนตรีฯ โอมานยินดีที่เอกอัครราชทูตเข้าพบและเป็นช่องทางสานต่อ และแจ้งความประสงค์จะร่วมมือกับไทยด้านการท่องเที่ยวของชุมชนกับองค์การบริหารการพัฒนาพื้นที่พิเศษเพื่อการท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืน (อพท.) ประสงค์ปรับปรุง MoU ด้านการท่องเที่ยวไทย-โอมานซึ่งลงนามระหว่างกันตั้งแต่ปี 2548 ให้สอดคล้องกับบริบทปัจจุบันเพื่อสามารถเป็นพื้นฐานความร่วมมือปัจจุบันและอนาคต นอกจากนี้ กระทรวงมรดกและการท่องเที่ยวโอมานจะส่งคณะผู้แทนจากสำนักงานนิทรรศการและการประชุม เยือนไทยอีกครั้งในเดือนกรกฎาคม 2569 เพื่อพบหารือกับสำนักงานส่งเสริมการจัดประชุมและนิทรรศการ (สสปน.) และหน่วยงานไทยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ศึกษาประสบการณ์และแนวปฏิบัติที่เป็นเลิศของประเทศไทยในการบริหารจัดการและพัฒนาการจัดนิทรรศการและการประชุม ซึ่งไทยมีความเชี่ยวชาญด้วย ซึ่งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตจะประสานหน่วยงานไทยในประเด็นเหล่านี้ให้สามารถมีความร่วมมือที่เป็นประโยขน์ร่วมกันแก่ทั้งสองประเทศ

 

เอกอัครราชทูตยังได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมอัตลักษณ์อันเป็นมรดกของชาติ อาทิ การอนุรักษ์เครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติที่ทั้งไทยและโอมานต่างดำเนินการอยู่ ซึ่งไทยเสนอชุดไทยขึ้นบัญชีรายการมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่จับต้องไม่ได้ของ UNESCO รวมทั้งให้ข้อมูลโครงการที่สามารถเป็นความร่วมมือด้านวัฒนธรรม/มรดกของชาติระหว่างไทย-โอมานตามที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้รับทราบความประสงค์ของกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมของไทย และพิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งชาติโอมาน โดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ พร้อมร่วมดำเนินการกับหน่วยงานไทยและโอมานในโครงการที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายมีความพร้อมและเป็นประโยชน์ร่วมกันด้วย

 

ทั้งนี้ ภาคการท่องเที่ยวเป็นหนึ่งในสาขาความร่วมมือที่มีศักยภาพระหว่างไทย–โอมาน และสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายของ Oman Vision 2040 ที่มุ่งสร้างความหลายทางเศรษฐกิจ ไทยสามารถร่วมมือกับโอมานผ่านการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านการท่องเที่ยว การพัฒนาบุคลากร การท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพ และการท่องเที่ยวโดยชุมชนซึ่งเป็นจุดแข็งของไทย

 

On 7 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Warunee Pan-krajang, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Sultanate of Oman, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, sought the Minister's views on further possible cooperation with Thailand from his recent visit to Thailand and discussion with Tourism Authority of Thailand in April 2026, during his participation in the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference (GSTC) from 21 to 24 April 2026 in Phuket, Thailand

 

The Thai Ambassador underscored her commitment to sustaining the positive momentum in Thailand–Oman relations. Latest high level visits between both countries includes the official visit to the Sultanate of Oman of H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on 15–16 April 2026, during which he was graciously granted an audience with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman where Thailand–Oman tourism cooperation was among areas of cooperation highlighted by His Majesty, and the above-mentioned visit to Thailand of the Minister of Heritage and Tourism of Oman in April 2026. Two more high levels visits to Thailand are scheduled this year: H.E. the Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman in September 2026 and H.E. the Foreign Minister of Oman in November 2026, the latter will be accompanied by Omani business delegation comprising four sectors of Thailand-Oman mutual interest.

 

The Minister welcomed the Ambassador’s visit and her readiness to be another channel of communication supporting Thailand-Oman further collaboration in the field of tourism and heritage. He conveyed Oman’s interest in exchanging with Thailand on community-based tourism, particularly with the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) of Thailand, in the review of Thailand–Oman Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism, which was signed twenty-one years ago in 2005 in order to reflect current circumstances as a renewed framework for present and future cooperation, and in sending another delegation of the Ministry from the Exhibitions and to visit Thailand in July 2026 to meet and duscuss with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and other relevant agencies on Thailand’s experience and best practices in the management and development of exhibitions and conferences sector, which the Embassy is pleased to coordinate with relevant agencies of Thailand for consideration.

 

As both sides are promoting sustainable tourism with environmental protection and heritage preservation, the Thai Ambassador also shared that Thailand's heritage reflecting in Thai national dress is presented for UNESCO inscription of intangible cultural heritage. She also share lists of proposed heritage collaboration received from Thai Ministry of Culture and Oman National Museum which the Royal Thai Embassy is working with relevant aughotities for the Minister's information.

 

Tourism is one of the most promising areas of cooperation between Thailand and Oman and is closely aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in achieving economic diversification. Thailand stands ready to enhance the cooperation with Oman, drawing on its strengths and expertise in tourism, human resource development, wellness tourism, and community-based tourism.
