สกสว. เล็งเห็นศักยภาพที่ไทยกับโอมานจะมีความร่วมมือแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และประสบการณ์กันได้ อาทิ การทำวิจัยร่วมกันและการแลกเปลี่ยนเจ้าหน้าที่ในสาขาต่าง ๆ เช่น การเกษตรและอาหาร การแพทย์ AI และความร่วมมือระหว่าง SME หรือ Start-up เอกอัครราชทูตเห็นพ้องถึงศักยภาพเนื่องจากโอมานให้ความสำคัญกับการวิจัยและพัฒนาอย่างรอบด้านเพื่อสามารถบรรลุเป้าหมายวิสัยทัศน์โอมาน ค.ศ. 2040 ซึ่งรวมถึงสาขาข้างต้น และการพัฒนาทรัพยากรมนุษย์ของประเทศ และมีความต้องการ know-how และการร่วมลงทุนจากต่างชาติในหลากหลายสาขา โดยที่ สกสว. และฝ่ายโอมานได้รู้จักกันแล้ว เห็นว่าในชั้นนี้สามารถยกระดับการหารือให้เกิดผลเป็นรูปธรรมในเรื่องที่จะเป็นประโยชน์ร่วมกัน โดยที่ สกสว. ประสงค์ใช้ประโยชน์จากงานวิจัยของไทย อาจเสนอรายชื่อหัวข้องานวิจัยของไทยที่ต้องการนำมาใช้ประโยชน์และยังมองหาหุ้นส่วน และสามารถเกิดประโยชน์ร่วมกันแก่ทั้งสองฝ่าย เสนอฝ่ายโอมานพิจารณา อาจสามารถต่อยอดไปสู่การค้าการลงทุนระหว่างกัน เอกอัครราชทูตยินดีพิจารณาให้ความเห็นเบื้องต้นและประสานงานความร่วมมือกับภาครัฐภาคเอกชนของโอมานในโอกาสต่าง ๆ ซึ่ง สกสว. เห็นพ้องและแจ้งว่าจะมีโอกาสพบฝ่ายโอมานในการประชุม GRC ที่กรุงริยาดเช่นกัน

 

On 16 May 2025 H.E. Miss Warunee PAN-KRAJANG, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Sultanate of Oman, welcomed the delegation of Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) led by Prof. Dr. Sompong Klaynongsruang, President of TSRI, to discuss possible cooperation between Thailand and Oman in the areas of research utilization, joint development of science and technology, and exchange and development of human resources before traveling to Saudi Arabia to attend the annual meeting of the Global Research Council (GRC) in Riyadh on 18 May 2025. This is a follow-up meeting to the discussions in January 2025, when TSRI came to attend Muscat Global Knowledge Dialogue and the 3rd General Assembly of the International Science Council (ISC) and the Ambassador introduced the delegation to the Vice President of the National University of Science and Technology of Oman - they met again later in Bangkok. The Royal Thai Embassy also coordinated with the Foreign Ministry of Oman for the delegation to meet with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for discussion on possible cooperation.

 

TSRI sees potential for Thailand and Oman cooperation in sharing knowledge and experiences, joint research and exchange of officials in various fields such as agriculture and food, medicine, AI, and cooperation between SMEs or start-ups. The Ambassador agreed and shared her view that, in order to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040, Oman emphasizes development in various fields and attaches importance to development of the country's human resources, investment, and transfer of knowledge and technology. The Ambassador suggested that as the two sides has started discussion, the discussion should develop to concrete cooperation, TSRI might propose to the Oman side to consider and discuss further TSRI's list of completed research which is ready to be utilized and requires partner in areas of mutual interest of Thailand and Oman which can be further developed to promote trade and investment between the two countries. The Ambassador is ready to provide her view on such list and assist in discussing with potential Omani public and private sectors on possible collaboration. The delegation agreed with the idea and informed that they would have a chance to meet with the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Oman at the GRC meeting in Riyadh.
